Vocabulary

This page defines the words the product uses, names the control that carries each one, and ends with two ideas it deliberately has no word for.

The words

  • Snippet — one piece of reusable text, kept in a library. The New snippet dialog makes one; the editor saves it as a numbered revision. See snippets.
  • Revision — one save of a snippet, numbered, holding the whole text. Nothing overwrites one.
  • Library — the top of the tree, shared with the workspace or Personal to whoever made it; a Personal library's row carries the Personal marker. See libraries.
  • Collection — a folder inside a library, holding snippets and other collections. New collection makes one. See collections.
  • Document — what you assemble on the canvas and export. New document starts one. See assembling.
  • Template — a document's rows, saved in order to be put into another document. Save as template makes one from the canvas, and Insert on pane 1's Templates tab puts its rows on the canvas at the insertion point. See templates.
  • Field — a placeholder in a snippet, written {{customer_name}}, answered once for the whole document in the Fields sheet; [[name]] is the one-off form. See fields.
  • Review — whether a snippet's text has been read and certified. The seal reads Certified, Needs review, Needs correction, Review expired or Moved, and Mark certified is the control that certifies. See certification.
  • Moved — the seal on a canvas row whose snippet has a newer revision than the one the row is pinned to, unless the snippet is flagged Needs correction or Review expired. Refresh to latest re-pins it.
  • Prompter — the reading view you keep on screen while you talk. Start prompter starts it. See the prompter.
  • Cue — a rule kept with a snippet that the prompter reads to decide when to bring that snippet up. The editor lists them under Cues, and Add a cue adds one. See cues.
  • Map — to tie an area of a web page to a snippet, so the prompter moves to it during a call. A mapping is kept apart from the snippet's cues, and Mappings lists your own and the ones shared with the workspace. See mappings.
  • Ask — one question, objection, requirement or comparison that Live Answers heard on a call. See Live Answers.

Two ideas the product has no word for

Typing a short code into another app and having saved text appear in its place. CCEForge does not do that and has no name for it. A snippet goes onto the canvas, where it keeps its position in the document, its fields and its seal, and the document is what you assemble and export.

A named gap that a kind of document expects to be filled. The product never asks what kind of document you are making, so there is no outline of waiting holes to fill and no percentage of one to report. A document is the rows you put on the canvas, in the order you arrange them.
