Mappings
A mapping binds an area of a web page to a snippet, so hovering that area during a call moves the prompter to it.
Requires: the CCEForge browser extension, which runs in Chrome. Recording a mapping is a click on a real page, and only the extension reports one.
Record one
- Open the page you demo from, on a site you have granted the extension.
- Turn on mapping in the extension's popup.
- Click the element you talk about.
The CCEForge tab paired with the extension says what happened — 1 anchor recorded, or
Not recorded, with the reason and code on hover, or Not this tab when the click was
on CCEForge itself, which is never a mapping target.
Record with the prompter open and Map clicks to this step turned on under Map, and
the click binds to the snippet you are reading: the document toolbar answers Mapped to step with the step number and the snippet's title. With it off, or on a section that
pins no snippet, the click records with no snippet and waits for you on Mappings.
Work through them
Mappings in the workspace navigation lists every binding, grouped by host and then by
URL pattern, with Host, Recent and Most mapped to sort by and a field to filter by
snippet, element or pattern. The line above the list counts what is there: mappings,
hosts, how many are shared, and how many are still without a snippet.
A row of your own offers:
Assign a snippet, on a row recorded with none. It readsNo snippet yetuntil then.Edit pattern…— change which pages it fires on. A pattern recorded on one payment's URL fires only on that one page; generalising it with a*is the fix, and the snippet binding stays.Change, on a row bound to a snippet — bind it to a different one. The old binding is retired rather than rewritten, so the record of what fired stays true.Remove…, which confirms withRemove mapping.
Shared mappings
A cue authored on a snippet becomes workspace content once that snippet is certified,
and then appears here labelled Shared, carrying its seal, with Edit in the snippet editor as its one control. This tier is read from the revision somebody signed off,
never from the draft on screen. See cues.
Which one wins
Every mapping of your own ranks above every shared one. A local row that overlaps a
shared one says so — Read first, ahead of 2 shared mappings on this page. — and on the
same pattern the rows sit in that order. Within a tier the more specific URL pattern
comes first, so a rule for one page beats one for the whole host.
A shared mapping is not removed or overridden by being second. It is still listed, and
still fires when no mapping of yours matches, on a Blank prompter or in a document that
contains its snippet.
This page does not say whether a mapping is armed right now: that is a fact about a live
call in another tab. The word beside the extension's dot is where the live answer is
(its tooltip at the narrowest layout) — No extension, Pairing, Not paired,
Paired, or a count of what is armed.
