What is stored

This page lists what CCEForge keeps for a workspace, and names the two things it does not keep: audio, and the files you export.

Snippets and their revisions

Every save that changes anything on a snippet — its text, title, summary, tags, cues — writes a numbered revision, and a revision holds the whole text rather than a list of changes. Once a snippet has one revision, a save that changes nothing adds none.

Your session can read revisions and cannot edit or delete them: a save adds one, and the earlier ones stay as they were. A snippet cannot be deleted either. Archiving one keeps it, with every revision, under Archived snippets, where it can be restored.

Documents

A document is kept with its title, its settings and the rows on its canvas, each row pinned to the revision it was inserted at until Refresh to latest re-pins it to the newest. Archiving a document keeps it; no member can delete one. Removing a row from the canvas does delete that row.

Events

The product records what happened as you work: the verb, who did it, when, in which workspace, and a few plain values beside it. One database function is the only way in, and it takes the actor from the signed-in session rather than from the request, so nothing can be recorded on someone else's behalf. The content of a snippet, a field's value and a title are not among the values an event carries, and no member's session can read or change the table.

Live Answers history

A call keeps when it started and ended, what captured it, whether it is shared, how many asks it caught, answered and left as gaps, and when its asks are due to be deleted. An ask keeps the question in at most 140 characters, its kind, its band and the inputs behind it, the passage shown on the card when the answer was quoted word for word, what you did with the card, and the snippet revisions or documentation pages the answer came from. Retention covers how long that lasts.

Audio

Live Answers turns speech into text in your browser — On this device is the only recogniser there is — and what it sends carries text, never sound. No table holds audio.

Exports

CCEForge keeps no copy of what you export. Every format on the export sheet is built in your browser, PDF through the browser's own print dialog, and Google Docs is the one that sends anything anywhere: the file goes to Google Drive through CCEForge, which passes it on and keeps nothing. What is recorded is narrower than the sheet: the toolbar's Copy writes one event for the document and one for each snippet in it, and Google Docs writes one naming the file it made. Copy, PDF, DOCX, Markdown and HTML on the sheet record nothing.
